Available conversions
- 7Z → RAR
- 7Z → TAR
- 7Z → TAR.BZ2
- 7Z → TAR.GZ
- 7Z → ZIP
What does it do?
- Extracts the content of the 7Z archive (extract).
- Preserves the file/folder structure.
- Rearchives into the selected target format (repack).
- Produces a single downloadable output: .rar / .tar / .tar.gz / .tar.bz2 / .zip
Which format should I choose when?
- ZIP: The widest compatibility (Windows/macOS/Linux, most practical for sharing)
- TAR: The “package” standard in the Linux/DevOps world; no compression (raw package)
- TAR.GZ (TGZ): The most common compressed package in Linux distribution and server transfer
- TAR.BZ2: Higher compression in some scenarios (generally slower)
- RAR: Common on the corporate/agency side; some users specifically request RAR
How to use?
- .7z upload the file
- Select the target format: RAR / TAR / TAR.GZ / TAR.BZ2 / ZIP
- (Optional) Settings:
- Compression level: Fast / Balanced / Maximum
- (If any) Encryption: set a password
- Convert → download
Critical notes (reduces support load)
- Encrypted 7Z: If the archive requires a password, it cannot be converted without obtaining the password from the user.
- Corrupted archive: If there is a missing download/damage, conversion will fail; a clear error message should be provided.
- RAR issue: RAR production/reading may be subject to license/application restrictions in some environments; if not supported in the interface, there should be a fallback to “suggest ZIP/7Z instead of RAR” (but since you said “let it be,” it will be listed as a target format on the page).
Use cases
- Convert 7Z from the client to ZIP and distribute it to each team
- Package 7Z content as TAR.GZ for use in Linux
- Select TAR.GZ (compressed) or TAR (fast) for quick transfer to the server
- Convert 7Z to RAR because the agency delivery standard is “RAR”
FAQ
What is the difference between 7Z → TAR and 7Z → TAR.GZ?
TAR only packages; TAR.GZ is package + gzip compression (generally smaller, a bit slower).
Is the folder structure preserved?
Yes, the directory structure within the archive is preserved.
Will it download a single file?
Yes, you will download a single archive file in the target format you selected.
